ARCHITECTURAL STUDIES
Fall 2018 - Fall 2019
Work from architecture studios focused on conceptual studies and analysis to help build spatial understanding. These spatial studies serve to analyze elements such as systems and hierarchy.
RUINS
Fall 2019
Ruin is celebrating memories and fragments through the introduction of new systems such as light and water implemented within a space defined and shaped by the old. The space itself is permeable so it allows for the adaptation of new systems of light and water. If Aqua Alta occurs, there is a new way to approach the space. Light floods in through this façade and creates an new experience when it reflects on the water. The audience is meant to circumnavigate around this central theater space rather than staying stationary in order to engage in this theater of light. During the character improvisation at the well, my model's purpose was to create a column of light that cascaded down on the main joint. The memory of the well further manifested itself within the core of the next iteration as it became about the arrival and precession around this central light well which serves as a spotlight that captures Venetian light in order to display it within a theatrical setting.

DOOR, WINDOW, STAIR
Fall 2019
Door, Window, Stair became a discovery of two zones, both of vastly different scales. The human zone serves as a stationary and slender central void meant to occupy and view. The elephant zone circumnavigates this central column wrapping around it and defining it. Where the two paths meet, this serves as a moment of interaction between the human and the elephant. Due to the strict confines of gravity, there is tension between the compressed horizontal space and suspended vertical space, reinforcing the dynamic between humans and elephants.

LIGHT, SHADOW, EXPERIENCE
Spring 2019
Throughout this project, light is not just perceived as a harsh system of sharp illuminating fragments formed from the interruption of space but a means to soften hard lines and the austerity of the geometry. To have the structures to be washed in light in such a way, a dramatic quality is brought in and enhances the space it encapsulates. From my analysis of the cave, one can see the possession of the spatial qualities of suspension and compression within the spaces slipping into darkness. Meanwhile my findings of clouds showcase the spatial qualities of obscuring and penetration through the various apertures that funnel light. However, these qualities are not as unlike as they seem as both serve as interrupters of system of light and partake in the same kind of negotiations, as these spatial qualities form where a beam of light is interrupted. In this sense, the spatial qualities produced occur due to the dependent system of light interacting with a set structure. In order to have a space hold light, the systems must negotiate in such a way to allow the penetration of light.

ANALYSIS OF THE FAMILIAR
Spring 2019
In this project, I analyzed the intricate details of common everyday objects, such as door hardware, and one's interaction with it. We do not often take notice of minute details within items of everyday use. Minuscule tasks like opening the door are often preformed unconsciously. Thus focusing on how a hand works and interacts with door hardware elevates one's understanding of specifics and how they affect people on a day to day basis. Human scale is vastly important when discussing the interworking's of a building thus one must hold the intricate details to the same importance as the grand scale.
